The Territorial Army Decoration Medal is a prestigious Indian military award presented to officers of the Territorial Army for long and efficient service. It is typically awarded after 20 years of qualifying commissioned service, with special provisions where wartime or emergency service is counted double. This decoration recognizes dedication, discipline, and commitment of civilian volunteers serving in the military structure. Unlike gallantry awards, it specifically honours long service excellence and is considered a respected part of Indian Army medal hierarchy. Territorial Army personnel are also eligible for national gallantry awards such as Ashok Chakra, Kirti Chakra, and Sena Medal, highlighting the importance and honour of this decoration within India’s defence honours system
